Client: Melbourne USA Truck Workshop
Client’s Industry: USA Trucks, Automotive & 4x4 Upgrades
Service: GEO & AEO – AI Search Optimisation
AI Platforms Tracked: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews & other AI assistants

Project Overview

Search behaviour is changing.

Customers aren't just using Google to research businesses anymore. They're increasingly asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI detailed questions about products, services and which businesses they should choose.

For one of our specialist USA truck workshop clients in Melbourne, Boost Your Brand implemented a dedicated Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) strategy to increase visibility across AI-powered search.

We commenced the dedicated AI ranking work at the end of July 2026.

In August, AI referral traffic increased from 22 to 55 referrals — a 150% month-on-month increase.

The Challenge

USA truck upgrades are highly specialised, and customers often conduct significant research before choosing a workshop.

Instead of simply searching Google for "USA truck workshop Melbourne", customers can now ask AI questions such as:

  • Where can I get a Chevrolet Silverado upgraded in Melbourne?
  • Who does GVM upgrades for USA trucks in Victoria?
  • Can I run 37-inch tyres with a Silverado 2500 GVM upgrade?
  • What suspension setup is best for towing a caravan?
  • How does tow-ball mass affect payload?

AI platforms may investigate multiple related topics before producing an answer.

Our goal was therefore to move beyond targeting individual keywords and build a website that provides strong answers across the wider topics customers and AI platforms are researching.

The Solution

Dedicated GEO & AEO Strategy

Our GEO and AEO strategy builds on traditional SEO rather than replacing it.

We assessed how clearly the website communicated what the workshop does, where it operates, the vehicles it specialises in and its technical capabilities.

From there, we identified content and technical opportunities that could make the website easier for customers, search engines and AI systems to understand.

Cosine Similarity Testing

One of the techniques we implemented was our Cosine Similarity test.

Rather than looking only at individual keywords, we assess how closely the overall content of a page aligns with the topic and search intent we're targeting.

For example, a page about a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 GVM upgrade could also need to cover:

  • Factory and upgraded GVM
  • NB1 and NB2 vehicle categories
  • Payload
  • Tow-ball mass
  • Suspension
  • Towing
  • Tyre sizes
  • Wheel requirements
  • Engineering

This helps us identify semantic content gaps and build pages that provide more complete answers.

The objective isn't keyword stuffing — it's topical relevance.

AI Fan Out Analysis

We also implemented our AI Fan Out process.

A single question asked through an AI assistant can lead to numerous related searches and information requirements.

For example:

"Where should I take my Silverado 2500 in Melbourne to get it set up for towing?"

could expand into topics around GVM, suspension, payload, tow-ball mass, tyres, wheels, engineering and towing compliance.

Our Fan Out process identifies these related questions so we can determine whether the website already provides a strong answer.

Where gaps exist, they become opportunities for new or improved content.

Dedicated Service Pages & AI Content

Another major part of the campaign involved developing and improving dedicated service pages.

Instead of broad pages covering numerous services, dedicated pages allow us to go deeper into individual areas of expertise and answer specific customer questions.

We also reviewed content with one important question in mind:

Can an AI system quickly identify a clear answer from this page?

Important technical information, specifications and service details were structured more clearly so they weren't buried inside generic marketing copy.

This helps make the website more useful for both customers and AI-powered search.

Technical Website & AI Bot Optimisation

Content was only one part of the campaign.

We also assessed the underlying website code and technical structure, looking at how important information was being presented to crawlers.

Our work included reviewing Cloudflare configurations and AI bot accessibility to help ensure relevant crawlers weren't unnecessarily prevented from accessing website content.

Good AI optimisation isn't simply about publishing more content.

That content also needs to be accessible, structured and understandable.

Tracking AI Search Performance

We're tracking referral traffic and AI visibility across platforms including:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Perplexity
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Other identifiable AI assistants

This provides an additional reporting layer alongside traditional Google Analytics, Google Search Console and SEO rankings.

It allows us to answer an increasingly important question:

Are AI platforms actually helping customers discover the business?

The Outcome: AI Referral Traffic Increased 150%

The dedicated GEO and AEO campaign commenced at the end of July 2026, making August the first full month following implementation.

AI referral traffic increased from:

22 referrals in July → 55 referrals in August

That's a 150% month-on-month increase.

Across the reporting period:

  • April: 20
  • May: 22
  • June: 34
  • July: 22
  • August: 55

August recorded the highest AI referral traffic across the reporting period, approximately 62% higher than the previous peak in June.

We don't attribute every additional referral to one individual optimisation. AI search platforms and customer behaviour continue to evolve, and monthly traffic can fluctuate.

However, a 150% increase during the first full month following the commencement of our dedicated GEO and AEO work is an extremely encouraging early indicator.

Why AI Referral Traffic Matters

Someone arriving from an AI assistant may already have spent considerable time researching their problem.

Before visiting the website, they may have asked AI to compare upgrade options, understand GVM requirements, investigate suspension, research towing or recommend USA truck workshops in Melbourne.

That means AI can become part of the research and consideration stage of the customer journey.

For businesses, being part of those answers creates another opportunity to be discovered by high-intent potential customers.

SEO + GEO + AEO

We don't believe AI search means traditional SEO is disappearing.

Instead, the search landscape is expanding.

Businesses now have opportunities to be discovered through traditional Google Search, Google AI experiences and conversational platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.

That's why our approach combines:

SEO + GEO + AEO

The objective is to maximise the opportunities for our clients to be discovered wherever their customers are searching.

What's Next?

This campaign is still in its early stages.

We'll continue running Cosine Similarity testing and AI Fan Out analysis, expanding dedicated service pages, improving AI-focused content, assessing technical website structure and monitoring AI crawler accessibility.

We'll also continue tracking referral traffic and visibility across the major AI platforms to determine whether the initial growth can be sustained and increased.

Partner with Boost Your Brand

At Boost Your Brand, we're helping businesses prepare for the next generation of search through SEO, Generative Engine Optimisation and Answer Engine Optimisation.

Our GEO and AEO strategies can include AI Fan Out research, Cosine Similarity testing, dedicated service pages, AI-focused content, technical website analysis, AI bot optimisation and AI referral traffic reporting.

The goal isn't simply to rank on Google.

It's to help your business become visible wherever potential customers are searching for answers.

If your customers are asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI which business they should choose, you want your business to have a chance of being part of the answer.

Final Thoughts

The early results from this Melbourne USA truck workshop demonstrate the potential of a structured GEO and AEO strategy.

After commencing dedicated AI optimisation at the end of July, referral traffic from AI platforms increased from 22 in July to 55 in August — a 150% month-on-month increase.

It's still early, but it's a strong first signal.

By combining Cosine Similarity testing, AI Fan Out analysis, dedicated service pages, AI-focused content and technical optimisation, we're helping businesses prepare for a search landscape that extends far beyond traditional Google results.

Because the next customer looking for your business might not search for you — they might ask AI.
